As a London wedding planner of distinction, we here at Valentine’s weddings love to champion the latest trends in colour co-ordination, ambient atmospheres and bridal brilliance – and that doesn’t stop come Christmas time!

We found the top 5 Christmas wedding trends of 2018 and put them together to give you some ideas for planning your own winter wedding… and don’t worry; there’s not a Santa Claus in sight!

Top Christmas Wedding Trend Number 5: The Pine Cone Bridal Bouquet!

This idea comes to us courtesy of Cosmopolitan and features a pine cone bouquet which the bridal party can decorate as they like. If your colour scheme is gold and white then add a little gold glitz and tie the cones together with a white ribbon.

You will find most florists can mount pine cones in a similar way to how they would mount flowers… but it adds a decadent touch to any chilly winter wedding!

Top Christmas Wedding Trend Number 4: Christmas Tree Favours!

This idea comes courtesy of Bridal Magazine and is quite an inspired way to either seat your guests, arrange your table plan or act as an innovative guest book.

Hang photographs of each of your guests on a miniature Christmas tree in the centre of each table for a fun ‘seating chart’. Or Simply provide an instant film camera and a few marker pens, and let the guests leave messages for you clipped to the tree for a guestbook! Either way it is a lovely touch for a Christmas wedding…

Top Christmas Wedding Trend Number 3: Your Name in Lights!

So maybe not literally; but every winter wedding has the capacity to create a magical, meaningful and unforgettable event simply by using ambient lighting techniques. Winter is the time of fairy lights and sparkling decorations… and it is the one time of year you can go mad with the lighting!

Indoor light strings, outdoor solar lighting, glittering trees and candelabra are all at the heart of this season. Some venues forbid the use of candles but nowadays you can buy LED tea lights. Don’t be afraid to put lights everywhere… when better to sparkle than a Christmas wedding?

Top Christmas Wedding Trend Number 2: Sparkle With the Guests!

Add some sparkle to your wedding

We love this trend from The Diamond Store, but it isn’t necessarily brand new. In winter, walking from the church to the car can be tricky – especially if the sun has gone down on your London based wedding. Some inspirational weddings have seen guests given sparklers instead of confetti to guide the newly-weds safely to the waiting vehicle – and we love it!

Top Christmas Wedding Trend Number 1: Long-Sleeved Dresses

We have both of the recent Royal Weddings to thank for this trend. Thanks the two new brides holding a huge influence over the bridal market (they are literally trend-setters) the long-sleeved wedding dress is back with vengeance.

While it remains to be seen if this trend continues into the summer; the three-quarter length to long arm has become a focal point for many brides… especially amid those of us who are glad we can finally hide our upper arms.
