The wedding invitation was always a charm for those who had a beautiful dress hanging in their wardrobe. But, It has been one year since the start of the Coronavirus lockdown and we are still unable to get our heads around the forbidden wedding facts. The postponed weddings and the ceremonies has made things seem a long time since we felt the real marriage vibes with the lockdown weddings being cancelled, postponed, changed plans and what not. Because of this there are many friends the couple couldn’t invite, despite the closeness; some measures had to be taken. Not only that, there was a halt for many decisions and couldn’t be processed further because the government implemented restrictions.
But how can we use wording for wedding invitations to avoid harming the feelings and make the ex-guests feel special?
Wedding invitation wording cannot be ignored by the couple guests, since these were for everyone’s safety.
If the weddings were postponed or held due to COVID-19, many would take it as a precautionary measure to not attend the wedding. But how can we let down guests who are already invited without hurting their feelings?
If the couple has been together for years, friends and family want to join the ceremony. How can you say no to an aunt who tested positive a few weeks ago and carried the virus? Its all about respectable wording. Here are a few suggestions of recommended wedding invitation wording:
If you had already made the preparations and decided on the wedding date for your big day, let your guests know. They will be as delighted to hear about your final decision as you.
Everybody wants to join hands and stand beside the bride and groom, cheering the champagne glasses and have a good laugh.
This time will remind them even amidst the restrictions and uncalled extra care for health; you can still have a great time.
Here is a non-typical wording for wedding invitations during COVID-19:
Save the date, ready the dresses because our wedding is just around the corner. We would appreciate it if you join our big day and help us stay together even in these challenging days of COVID-19. Let us know if we can expect your presence on the day.
Or alternatively, you may opt for a less is more wording like my design shown here.
Dear family and friends,
After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to cancel our wedding planned for on 24th April 2021 at the Dorchester Hotel.
There are a lot of unknowns with regards to the current pandemic, and the health and safety of our friends, families, and suppliers are our priority. Although we have been looking forward to celebrating our day with everyone, we acknowledge that it is not possible to do so safely at this time. We are, of course very disappointed, but thankful to have such a great support system in place to help us manage these changes at this very strange time.
We appreciate your understanding as we all try to navigate this unprecedented moment.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
Love,
Jenny & Russell
This means a stop to the bride’s excitement and the preparation of the guests but as your wedding is still going ahead, the wedding invitation to each guest might require a change in the date:
The party hasn’t stopped, just delayed a bit so that everyone on our list can join us. If you are or have been a victim of this uncalled virus, let us know beforehand so we can make extra arrangements for you to join us also.
Here’s a nice way to share your change of plans with this wording:
Due to an unexpected twist of fate, We’ve had to change our wedding date
Saturday 7th November 2021, is when we’ll say ‘ I do’ We hope we can still celebrate our wedding day with you.
There are times when we cannot jeopardize the guests’ health or the couple in any way. A zoom wedding invitation might work for everyone and in the best way. You are saving the health of all the guests and starting a new journey of life together with your partner. It’s like the same date, new plan ceremony.
Here’s how a wedding invitation wording will help your guests understand:
Due to COVID there has been a slight change of plans. Save the dresses, save the date, but not the tickets if you travel from another state. Since we are moving our wedding virtually, we would still very much like your presence via ZOOM.
Remember, you will stay in our hearts, if not beside us in reality.
Amidst all the hustles and uncountable decisions to make, some couples decide to elope from the hectic life. Surpassing all the heftiness, the couple is finally moving and looking for a wedding and honeymoon together.
This might help the guests understand why the couple made that decision,
As much as we want all of you together to join us on our big day, the circumstances don’t feel right. The idea to gather the guests and jeopardize their health isn’t us. So, we have decided to elope and avoid waiting long before we say ‘I DO’. But we are giving a wedding party to all our friends soon after the restrictions and lockdown ease.
Whether you decide to elope or postpone, it does mostly depend on what is most important for you.
